Q&A: Help please regarding paying old debts and trying to fix my credit. Knowledgeable answers appreciated!?

Question by WhoMe?: Help please considering gainful old debts and trying to fix my credit. Knowledgeable replied appreciated!?
I had impeccable credit for over 30 years, but a little over a year ago, things started to go south, including the loss of my job. Needless to say, a very bad time in my life and I was unable to pay my bills for around a year. However life is better now, and I am now in the process of paying off all of my debts, after the not-so-pleasant experience of having to talk to & work with all of the creditors. I was just curious if, when people check your credit rating, they ever take into account all of the years of GOOD credit vs. the short period (in comparison) of time where there were problems, or will the 1 bad year screw-up the rest of my life? I’ve been reading a lot of the postings here on YA, and truthfully am a little frightened that even after paying off all of my old debts, it won’t mean a hill of beans and I will still have bad credit. I know about it staying on your report for 7 years, but since I am older, this is serious to me. Any encouraging words would be appreciated.A further note – I have already talked to and worked with all of my creditors and have almost completed the process of paying off my bills, so I do not need to talk with credit counselors or get loans. I was really mainly curious if your old very good credit rating was ever considered when you are trying to build your credit rating back up. I’m just scared of going 7 years without any credit at all.

You could benefit from credit counseling. For one thing they will get your debts reduced and it shows good faith on your part as you make your payments. Also you don’t have to deal with your creditors, the credit counselors will do that. Here’s a good site for that:http://www.1-800badcredit.com/credit-card-debt-counseling.html

Question by Digz: Which credit reporting agency is best for the credit report?
I know that i tin get my free credit report once a year, but there are like 3 reporting agencies to chose from. Which of those agencies is most accurate, and gives out the most info? I want one, to show all the negatives thing i might have in order for me to fix them, if there are any.

Answer by mysery0125
http://www.myfico.comThis is the most used for scores. As far as the big three, you need to get one from each. Each can contain something different. Creditors are contracted out to these agencies. Sometimes they are not contracted to all three. They might report to one but not the other two. ALWAYS CHECK ALL 3 REPORTS!!!!!

CreditQ.com Announces New Credit Card Review Features And Other New Features

CreditQ.com – Your Guide To Credit Cards, Loans, Investments and Everything Between

Newport Beach, CA (PRWEB) July 30, 2011

CreditQ, the new one-stop financial website, announced today that it has expanded its credit card review features. The new features will help visitors find exactly the kind of credit cards they’re looking for. Shoppers can also access a wealth of information about nearly every credit card on the market.

The new information goes beyond that offered by most other credit card websites. CreditQ has put together a comprehensive collection of credit cards in all categories. For example, shoppers can find 12 cards created especially for people with bad credit. By contrast, most credit card review sites only offer three or four choices.

There are instant search features to access specific kinds of cards. Consumers can browse by card type, credit card rewards, card issuer or by credit rating. The cards range from credit cards for travel, gas, and department stores to Pentagon federal credit cards and guaranteed approval cards.

CreditQ offers visitors all the information they could want about every card listed on their website. Within each category, CreditQ gives a comprehensive rundown of the top cards, along with all the features associated with a particular card. Visitors can get APR information, learn whether there’s an annual fee, see if the card can be used for balance transfers and, if so, determine the balance transfer fee. They can discover whether a card offers a rewards program, and the kind of rewards currently being offered.

To learn even more about a card, shoppers can click on the “more information” tab and read in-depth reviews about each card, including a list of pros and cons.

Additional tabs give access to a rundown of the rates and fees associated with a card, its rewards programs and perks, and the credit score an applicant needs to qualify for approval. For those who don’t know their credit score, CreditQ.com gives visitors access to a variety of free credit score and credit report services.

More than just a credit card website, CreditQ offers individuals and businesses a large library of helpful financial resources. Consumers can apply for personal, VA, wedding, holiday and payday cash advance loans. They can get comparison quotes on auto, health, dental, travel and pet insurance. They can access mortgage loan and refinancing information, learn how to invest, read about retirement planning and find money to finance an education.

The website also offers visitors access to 16 handy and free financial calculators. Consumers can find out the cost of a home refinance, determine mortgage affordability, calculate retirement savings and figure out car loan repayments.

Other free services include current bank rates, credit interest rates and a large library of money-related articles written by financial experts covering everything from tips about budgeting and saving to common myths about credit repair.

Credit Liaison Founder & CEO Begins Petition To Ask Congress To Change The Fair Credit Reporting Act To Benefit Consumers First Before Big Business Interest

Credit Liaison Founder & CEO Begins Petition To Ask Congress To Change The Fair Credit Reporting Act To Benefit Consumers First Before Big Business Interest

Miami, FL (Vocus) March 17, 2009

Miami, FL March 16, 2009– Tell consumers “Credit Repair” is not a dirty word like the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), Creditors or the Credit Bureaus would have them understand. In the midst of a gave economy and over 1.5 trillion in bailouts with Consumer money, it nonetheless remains hard for Consumers to address their credit issues. “Bad Credit is large business” says Anthony Martinez, Founder & CEO of Credit Liaison, a credit repair company taking the guide on consumer advocacy. Credit Liaison has put away a Petition seeking 100,000 signature asking Congress to revise the language of the Fair Credit Reporting Act so that it benefits the consumer better.

Credit Liaison is leading a first grading Consumer fight to help hard working Americans with their credit. Aside from the strongest techniques that force Creditors and the Credit Bureaus to delete negative inaccurate information from Consumer credit reports, Credit Liaison is asking Consumers to subscribing the Petition and get Congress to perceive. “The facts are in and they’re not pretty at all” says Anthony Martinez. “If over 70% of the information the Credit Bureaus report is inaccurate isn’t that abuse? If Creditors re-age items on a consumer credit report for profit isn’t that fraud and abuse? Most Debt Consolidation companies are either owned or affiliated with the Banks who own Consumer credit card debts. They never tell Consumers that they will basically pay indefinitely if they use their services in some cases” says Anthony Martinez. Debt Consolidation companies report Consumers to the Credit Bureaus which actually has a negative effect on a Consumers credit report according to Credit Liaison sources.

“Indeed consumers need to be responsible and pay what they owe, but when over 70% of the information reported on a consumer credit report is inaccurate, what does that really say about the systems that are in place to fix it?” says Anthony Martinez. The legal remedy Congress has in play with the Fair Credit Reporting Act allows for $ 1,000 per violation according to the FCRA. “To a billion dollar industry that’s like throwing a pebble at an iron door” says Anthony Martinez. “Congress needs to make it more equitable for the Consumer. Raise violations to $ 5,000 or $ 7,500 per violation. Respond to acts of inaccurate reporting by Creditors by setting a violation limit whereas if they report more than say 50 accounts inaccurately in any given month, they are barred from their ability to report to the Credit Bureaus for a certain period of time.”

“The Fair Credit Reporting Act is comprehensive and identical confusing to the average American” says Anthony Martinez. “It is only right that they have a venue to turn to when they want to mend or address their credit issues without having to pay a lawyer $ 200 a hour to do so. Indeed every Consumer can repair their credit on their own but they can also fix their cars on their own or do their own hair. Most Consumers turn to the experts to get these things done and so many are now turning to Credit Liaison to fix and ask their credit reports.”

Credit Liaison is a credit restoration company built by litigation expert Anthony Martinez and is dedicated to helping populating fix their credit reports and address their debt problems. He is the President & CEO of Litigation Logic, a litigation support company that specializes in electronic discovery and digital solutions for complex litigation matters. He is also the CEO of Really Hot Music, Inc., an urban self-governing recording calling. As a consumer advocate Anthony Martinez and Credit Liaison as a whole are asking populating to sign their Online Petition even if they are not interested in fixing their credit to help sponsor other Consumers that need it.

National Credit Report Wants College Grads To Understand Their Credit Reports And Scores

Credit Monitoring Services

Delray Beach, FL (PRWEB) June 4, 2010

NationalCreditReport.com, a leader in credit report, credit score and credit monitoring services, advises recent college graduates that it’s never too early to get a good understanding of their credit report and score.

“Young adults just graduating from college should realize that along with newly-found financial freedom comes quite a bit of financial responsibility,” said Ambrose, Vice President of Marketing and Operations for NationalCreditReport.com. “It’s never too early to start building good credit with the III major credit bureaus and protecting your identity.”

However, many college graduates are not clear on the fundamental details about credit and the information credit report bureaus begin collecting in their credit files from the time they open their first credit card.

“To begin understanding your credit report and score, you should know that there are three major credit bureaus, Experian™, Equifax™ and TransUnion™,” said Ambrose. “But since credit reporting bureaus are all separate entities, they may each have different information on you resulting in different credit scores.”

A credit file will contain information on the types of credit you have such as credit cards, your debt like outstanding student loans and credit payment history. They also contain housing information, employment history, your Social Security number and information that is public record including judgments, bankruptcies and liens.

Ambrose also notes that it’s not only lenders and creditors that can get your credit report from the credit reporting bureaus. Insurance companies, collection agencies, landlords and with a permissible purpose can access credit files. Even potential and current employers can check your credit file with your approval.

“Having a basic understanding your credit report and score is vital in building good credit. Good imputed can result in being granted better lent and lines of credit,” state Ambrose.

Q&A: What types of credit is needed to get a high score?

Question by jade_blu_eyes: What types of credit is needed to get a high score?
My credit score is about 615. I am working on improving my score so that I tin qualify for a mortgage loan with low financing in about a year or so. I currently have an auto loan, and 3 revolving credit accounts. (All bank credit cards) Two of the revolving accounts are new, and the other almost a year old. My auto loan will be a year old in July of this year. Should I apply for more credit to get my score higher? If so what type of credit? What is a good mixture of credit to have to get a person’s score higher? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

Keep what you have. The most important thing is to pay the bills before they are due. Also keep the balances on the CC’s low or better yet pay them off every month.
